The power of digital marketing is heightened now more than ever now that we are in a pandemic. However, I would like us to uncover the meaning of digital. McKinsey describes digital as being closely attuned to how customer decision journeys are evolving in the broadest sense. As leaders, we must be evolving and not become afraid to use digital technology to attract new customers and build advocacy.
You must first start with digital technology. Digital technology are tools, systems, devices, and resources that generate, store, and process data. So, that includes cloud storage software, project management software, camera, tablets, phone system, computers, CRM, etc. We should be using this time to build a system for our business so we can be more efficient and generate more money.
Next is digital marketing. Digital marketing is the component of marketing that utilizes the internet and online-based digital technologies such as desktop computers, mobile phones, and other digital media platforms to promote products and services. It is highly ineffective to start with digital marketing without digital technology.
During these times, I have seen companies or organizations fail because they lack the system but their social media is on fire. The house is beautiful on the outside but when you open the door, it is a MESS. This pandemic should help us lean inward into our businesses or organizations to uncover productivity and optimization.
Prior to COVID, you could holla across the office for that file or print that file. Now it is transferred via email but now you are flooded with more emails but if you are using digital technology as a way to store and process data then you are working smarter and efficiently.
Whether you are seeking a digital marketing agency or you have a marketing team of your own, you should be taking time to build systems so you will have an authentic and profitable business.
So, ask yourself, are we using digital efficiently?
