In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Our Operations Manager, Mia H., thought it would be helpful to create a blog post about organization and daily routines. Mia is a true believer that an organized space with organized time helps to clear your mind and give you a sense of peace and calmness. Mia advocates that having a consistent routine can help you to be more effective each day whether in your personal or professional life.

Below are tips to implement in your daily routine:

  • Start your morning with a moment of reflection for the day. It’s helpful to not jump on any electronics (phone, computer, iPad, TV)
  • Have a list of priority items. Suggestion: Physical notebook or using Notes app a on phone
  • Write down the little and big things to remember
  • Calendar with appointments, meetings, events, birthdates

Include blocking off time for Self Care!
      • That can look like resting, workout classes, spa day, etc.
      • Meal prep if possible
      • Alternative: Have a list of meals you’d like to have each day of the week.
      • Do your least favorite tasks/household chores first. You’ll feel more accomplished and have a sense of peace. This way the tasks do not linger in your mind for the day.
      • Some days you may not feel up to doing much, give yourself grace and take time to regroup.
      • Try doing a small task and save the big tasks for the next day.
      • End your day the same as you start it with a moment of reflection to wind down before bed.

Below are tips to implement for work:

  • Start your work day 15 minutes earlier than you are scheduled to
    • Check emails
    • Review to do list for the day
    • Check calendar for meetings
  • Work on projects/tasks with the highest priority
  • Cc all pertinent people when sending emails to communicate effectively
  • Take notes during calls internally and externally
  • Over communicate with team members, clients, vendors, etc.
  • Use a project management platform that works for your team to share projects/tasks
  • If possible, have your heavy workload and meetings during the first part of the week.  End the week with recapping and closing out projects/tasks

Overall, take it one day at a time!  Give yourself grace and do your best 🙂
