The Black Businesses Matter (BBM) Podcast was created to uplift and amplify Black and Brown entrepreneurs, ensuring their stories, successes, and challenges reach the right audiences. BBM is more than just a title—it is a declaration that Black and Brown businesses drive real impact, both within and beyond our communities.
Since our launch in 2021, BBM has built a strong community of entrepreneurs and supporters. The podcast has featured 113 businesses across 103 episodes, attracts more than 300 weekly listeners, has surpassed 5,000 downloads, and reaches audiences in 37 countries. These numbers reflect the significance of our work and demonstrate that our voices resonate on a global scale. However, digital reach is only one piece of the puzzle. To continue shifting narratives, creating economic opportunities, and fostering generational wealth, in-person connection is essential.
Live events serve as a catalyst for collaboration, education, and economic empowerment. While podcasts, social media, and virtual spaces provide accessibility, in-person experiences create meaningful engagement that drives action. These gatherings strengthen relationships, foster trust, and lead to long-term partnerships. For Black and Brown communities, live events bridge the gap between access and opportunity. They turn ideas into movements, conversations into strategies, and audiences into active participants in economic and social progress.
With this in mind, BBM is expanding its mission beyond the podcast with an exclusive live event—a space dedicated to networking, collaboration, and community empowerment. The event will feature a special live recording with Marc Brooks of Hyde Park Hospitality, who will share key insights on reaching new audiences, establishing and scaling businesses in the hospitality sector, and valuable lessons in entrepreneurship and ownership. This is a unique opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge from a leader in Black business.
